SIX Hunters players have returned to the Hunters squad for the weekend’s home game against the Redcliff Dolphins after being cleared form injuries, says Hunters Assistant Coach Enoch Maki.
Maki made this statement during a media interview yesterday in Port Moresby highlighting team’s confidence for the QLD Host plus cup competition round 20.
“We have got six boys returning from injuries. Miles Banam, Clent Lama, Joel Gena, Sylvester Namo, Seal Kalo and Josh Mire coming back to regroup for the weekends game,” Maki said.
Hunters are four games away to end the season and Maki said the team’s aim now is to consistently working hard and get positive results.
“For the last two weeks we had learnt a lot. The players had injuries so we had time off and the boys had rehab, which made it possible for the return of six players,” he said.
“Having two weeks break had helped us because the boys had a long season so that two weeks really helped,” he added.
Maki said the last four remaining games was crucial for the team and the team would do its best to move away from being last on the ladder.
He said Hunters would do all it could to move away from claiming the wooden spoon.
In the move to strengthen the players Maki said Hunters had sent several players to back and to their Digicel ExxonMobil Cup franchises to work on their fitness over the one-week period.
He said the players that were released were from the Hunters training squad (Warriors) which most of them were the young boys.
Maki thanked the loyal fans for always having that pride to support the Hunters despite the inconsistent results throughout the season.
He also appealed to the supporters to turn up this weekend and show their support as Hunters take on the redclif Dolphines at Santos Natoinal Football Stadium, in Port Moresby on Saturday 3:30pm.
