Minister for Energy Peter Isoaimo has called for more investments in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) for the future of children.

“The true energy of the future lies not in oil or gas, but in the intellectual power of our people over the next 50 years,” he told the Petroleum and Energy Conference in Port Moresby today.

“In the next 50 years, our energy sector needs to become more diverse, resilient, and aligned with global clean energy markets.

“While natural gas will continue to play a crucial role in stabilising our economy for the time being, renewable energy will serve as a long-term foundation for our energy future,” Minister Isoaimo said.

He added that every household must have access to affordable, reliable, and sustainable land powered by renewable resources.

“To the landowners, protect your land, as it will be your greatest legacy. Don’t trade your children’s future for a cup of tea for today; the next shift you make will not only determine our energy landscape but also set our national standard in Western power.

“It will influence not just the operation of machines but also the lives and dreams of future generations,” Mr Isoaimo said.
