A final-year Mathematics and Computing Science student from the Divine Word University, Pearson Kumbigi, has designed a cross-platform application called, My NID PNG—Cross Platform, to assist people to sign up, log in and apply for NID from the comfort of their homes.

The application is accessible on personal computers, Android and IOS devices that aims to transform the way people register and apply for their national Identification (NID) in PNG.

Mr Kumbigi said: “The process is simple after logging in, the user gets to click the apply button, fills out the NID form, uploads an ID phot, captures fingerprints directly in the apply and submits the application. Once submitted, the applicant can return to the dashboard and access the track your application section, where they can monitor their application status in real tie weather approved, declined or still pending.

“On the other side, NID officers log into the system from their office, review submitted application, and ether approve or decline.  Upon approval the system automatically generates a unique 10-digit NID number and sends a secure E copy of the NID card back to the applicant Instantly. If declined the applicant is notified instantly, along with reason allowing them to make corrections and make resubmission without any delay. “

This system eliminates long queues, unnecessary travel, misplaced applications and months of waiting. it digitalizes the entire process, ensuring speed, transparence and confidence for both citizens and NID officers.

Minister for Administrative Services Richard Masere praised Mr Kumbigi for his new application.

He said Civil Identity Registration (CIR) data protection was paramount and the new application would enhance the registrations process.

“Our primary objective is to ensure that once we are moving into the electronic space, it is important for  us to also protect individuals data,” Mr Masere said.

“These are the things that we need to sit down with him and discuss by understanding his design and what he is providing, what the security features are provided, how we can protect data from hackers who can infiltrate and can easily destroy characters and individuals and can cause problems in the future.

“And so, it is important that this young man reach out to us so we can see if his technology is within the government technology requirements and what we should do and how we should approach this.”

  1. I think that’s a good concept the brave young leader brings across the whole Papua New Guineans to access easily at their fingertips anywhere and anytime.

  2. A brilliant way forward, if his software doesn’t meet the government’s requirements help him make his software meet the government’s requirements.

  3. I ask if you can help me to make my NID because I make my was an agent but they only give my birth certificate and go and ask them for my NID they said they don’t cut yet but it’s almost 1 ho two years nau I wait

  4. That’s more convenient and helpful for all citizens rather than waiting for NID cards to be issue for years. But those officers make their side monies every time so I know the the authorities will stop this brilliant idea and advancement in the emerging technology.

  5. Congratulations, this will improve the support and improve the process in speeding up the issuing of NID easily to remote places around the country. Also, more convenient, rather providing expensive exercise in registering around cities and towns.

    Thankyou

  6. Very brilliant 👏 idea indeed, so far we have wasted alot of resources just to process the NID and going from place to place as Provincial head Quarters and also it really delayed, the process is really expensive but this could our blessing indeed, thank you for that.

  7. Thank you Pearson for making this process so much easier and faster. Why does it has to take so for such process to be tapped into? NID has IT professionals and what are their jobs for? Pearson has answered a lot of unanswered queries. May your inventions take you into another level with your soon to be qualifications. Good luck into the future.

  8. Thanks for contributing to the development of this nation may your creator bless you for your hardworking. Thankyou sir.💯❤❤💥

  9. Genius, thanks for creating that special app, since NID is a required document and many PNG citizens can find it easier to create one using this new e-online registration…
