Kimbe Cutters star Amos dies in hospital

The PNG Rugby Football League and Kimbe Cutters Franchise expressed their condolences following the passing of Ray Amos Jnr early today.

Amos was injured in a match earlier this season. Ray initially received medical treatment to stabilize his condition and remained in hospital since the injury.

PNGNRLC Chairman Adrian Chow, when passing on his condolences to the Amos family, said they would be liaising with the family in the coming days.

The late Amos Ray Jr was injured in a match earlier this season that ultimately led to his coma.

“We are very saddened by the news of Ray’s passing. On behalf of PNGRFL, PNGNRLC and the whole rugby league family, I extend our sincere condolences to his family, to the Kimbe Cutters Franchise, to all his teammates, friends and relatives,” Chow said.

Throughout the period of Amos’ hospitalization, support has been provided to the family. As a show of support and to raise awareness of player welfare, PNGNRLC dedicated Rd 18 as “Round for Ray”.

“I also extend our appreciation to Dr Ravu, our on-field team and all the medical staff at POM General Hospital for their professional care in difficult circumstances,” Chow said. “PNGRFL and PNGNRLC will be liaising closely with the family to assist with the appropriate arrangements. The PNGRFL also on behalf of the family have asked everyone to respect their privacy during this difficult time.”
