The Papua New Guinea Football Association (PNGFA) has issued a statement informing the football community and the general public that domestic competitions will take a temporary recess in preparation for the MSG Prime Minister’s Cup 2025, which will be hosted in Port Moresby from 10–22 November 2025.

Competitions affected by this suspension include:

• The Premier Soccer League (PSL)

• The Women’s Conference Soccer League (WCSL) in Port Moresby and Lae

• The Youth League in Port Moresby

The temporary suspension takes effect immediately, with competitions scheduled to resume on Wednesday, 26 November 2025.

This decision has been made to prioritize national team camps and tournament preparations, as well as to allow for essential stadium rehabilitation works at the PNG Football Stadium and the Sir John Guise Stadium, which will host matches during the MSG Prime Minister’s Cup.

Both venues will undergo maintenance to ensure the pitches and facilities meet the required standards ahead of kickoff.

PNGFA appreciates the understanding and cooperation of clubs, players, officials, and fans during this period as the nation prepares to welcome Melanesia’s top footballing nations for this significant regional event.
