Teaching Service Commission (TSC) Acting Chairman Maini Mike Ugaia has urged on teachers to respect the appointments process and take up positions that are offered to them.

“Teachers resumption is scheduled on the 19th of January 2026. All teachers out there, far and near are to report to your designated schools on the date mentioned and resume for 2026 academic year,” Mr Ugaia said.

“In any case, some of you will not be happy and disappointed, but I call on you to respect the established appointment process and take up the position that is offered to you in order to avoid any further frustration and disappointment to yourself, your family and to the division of education.

“Hence, I call on you to respect the appointment process and take up the appointment and not to deviate from the offer that has been given to you by the Provincial Education Board (PEB).”

Mr Ugaia stressed the importance of respecting the process, saying: “This is to avoid, any inconveniences because when it comes to auto suspension, it will cost you, your family, and also will deny the children’s education when there is no one in the classroom.

“I call on you to communicate to the Division of Education inspectors and site leaders to report your situation, and you will be only given two weeks to ensure you report to the school and resume for 2026. However, after two weeks, I will call on PEB in a province to make an acting appointment where possible.”

He added that teachers’ appointments for 2026 were confirmed by the Teacher Tenure Confirmation Gazette.

“The gazette was compiled and delivered in the second week of December 2025. Those teachers who were appointed through the gazette positions should be given priority. PEB is to ensure these teachers take up the post, as per the confirmation gazette. Any serving teachers who may have been missed out on the appointment to immediately report to TSC office in the province for assistance. Do not wait until February. It has to be soon, so that we sort that out, for you to be back in the classroom.”

Teachers resumed duties for the 2026 school year yesterday.
