Equal Playing Field Staff Member, McLen and Ms Rachel Lanyeta, Deputy Head Teacher officially launching the new Child Protection Policy and PSEAH Policy at Kilakila Primary School.

Kilakila Primary School now joins Kaugere Junior High School, St Francis Primary School, and Koki Primary School in the National Capital District as part of a growing network of schools committed to creating safe and inclusive learning environments.

Kilakila Primary School has launched comprehensive Child Protection and Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (PSEAH) policies, through the Safe Schools Strong Communities project—supported by the PNG Women Lead Program under the PNG–Australia Partnership.

These policies are designed to safeguard both students and staff, ensuring schools remain safe and inclusive spaces for learning.
“Strong partnerships are key to building safe schools. By working together, we can create learning environments where every child feels protected and supported,” said McLen Laki, Program Manager at EPF.

These policies provide clear guidelines for reporting abuse, ensuring accountability, and creating inclusive spaces where children can learn and thrive. They also emphasise the role of families and communities in building a culture of protection and respect.

Kilakila Primary School Deputy Head Teacher, Ms Rachel Lanyeta adds, “These policies will strengthen how we protect our students and help transform our school into a safer, more supportive place for every child”.

This milestone reflects a shared commitment to protecting children and promoting equality. This initiative demonstrates how partnerships can drive meaningful change, starting in our schools.
