PNG Hekari FC has informed supporters, partners and the football community that Head Coach Marcos Gusmao has officially tendered his resignation.

General Manager Wira Wana said Marcos made this decision based solely on personal reasons, which he expressed clearly during Hekari’s management meeting.

“He shared that this may be his last involvement in football, as he has chosen to dedicate more time to his wife and family. We respect his choice and fully support his desire to prioritize family life,” Wana said.

“The Club Management and Board acknowledge and appreciate the significant contributions Marcos has made during his time with PNG Hekari FC. Notably, he developed a four-year technical plan that will serve as a foundation for nurturing and developing our youth players in the years ahead. His work has left a lasting impact, and we are grateful for his dedication and service to the club.”

In light of his resignation, Assistant Coach Jerry Allan will assume responsibility for the team for the remainder of the season.

Allan holds an OFC Senior B Licence and is currently in the process of applying for his A Licence. He will continue to lead the squad until such time as the club appoints a new Head Coach.

PNG Hekari FC extended their gratitude to Marcos for his commitment to the club and PNG Football during his term.
