Cricket PNG National Selectors Panel Chairman Hudson Leka said the selection process had been both demanding and rewarding as the panel worked to identify the strongest squad possible.

“Selecting the final squad of 14 players and 2 reserves for the PNG U19 Siale’s has been one of the most challenging yet exciting tasks we have faced. The talent gathered from our trials back in November was raw, but it was abundant.

Over the last few months, these young women have committed to extensive physical and mental training, along with crucial game time. We have watched them grow from raw but passionate prospects into a confident and cohesive unit. We believe this squad represents the best of that journey, and we are fully prepared and ready to compete in the upcoming qualifiers,” he said.

U19 Siale’s Head Coach Jason Kila said the team had shown strong commitment throughout the preparation period. The players had worked hard in training and match preparations and were proud to have the opportunity to represent our country.

Cricket PNG Board Chairman Michael Harrison commended the players and acknowledged the work of the selectors and high-performance team in preparing the squad.

“On behalf of the Cricket PNG Board, I thank the selectors and our High Performance team for their commitment and hard work in assembling this talented squad. “We congratulate the players selected to represent Papua New Guinea and wish them every success at the upcoming qualifier. As they take the field at Amini Park, they will proudly carry the hopes of the nation with them, and we encourage all Papua New Guineans to get behind our young Siale’s,” he stated. The upcoming qualifier will also provide a valuable opportunity for local fans to witness international women’s cricket on home soil, as PNG aims to secure qualification for the global tournament.
