The National Souths Basketball League (NSBL) executives have announced that registration for the 2026 20th Anniversary tournament will officially close on Friday, May 1.
Following an executive meeting in Port Moresby today, NSBL President Silas Nicky urged all teams to finalise their registration before the deadline, stressing that late entries will not be accepted.
Nicky also directed all participating teams to incorporate the official 20th Anniversary logo on their jerseys, describing the milestone as a significant moment for the competition.
“2026 is a special year for NSBL, and I want all teams to reflect that by incorporating the 20th Anniversary logo on their uniforms as we celebrate this edition in style,” he said.
NSBL Vice President Jotham Yawari clarified that the tournament is open to teams from across Papua New Guinea, not limited to Southern Highlands or Highlands region teams.
“I want to make it clear that spaces are open to interested teams nationwide. Our focus now is on growing and developing basketball throughout Papua New Guinea,” Yawari said.
In a joint statement, the executives reiterated that no late registrations will be entertained. The registration fee is set at K1000 for both men’s and women’s teams.
