TWO independent experts who evaluated Femili PNG’s performance and progress against its 2020-2025 Strategic Plan presented their key findings and recommendations at a workshop hosted by the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) School of Business and Public Policy on 6 October.

The evaluation team, comprising Ms Minetta Kakarere of the University of Papua New Guinea and Dr Brad Watson, an Australian evaluation specialist, presented their findings to approximately 40 participants from government agencies, service providers, civil society organisations, donor partners, and UPNG.

In addition to the two evaluators, several distinguished discussants contributed to the workshop, including Mr John Ma’o Kali, Patron of Femili PNG; Ms Daisy Plana, Chief Executive Officer of Femili PNG; Mr Jackson Simbou, Deputy Secretary of the Department for Community Development

and Religion; and Dr Orovu Sepoe, a respected gender expert. Their reflections and insights enriched discussions on the evaluation findings and the future direction of Femili PNG’s work.

Dr Orovu Sepoe commended the evaluators on the quality of their report.

“I wish to commend the reviewers for an excellent report,” Dr Sepoe said. “This report comes across with so much clarity and coherence.”

She emphasised the importance of continued research into client experiences and challenges and posed several important questions for Femili PNG to consider as it develops its next strategic plan.

The full evaluation report is available on the Femili PNG website: Femili PNG 2020-25 Strategic Plan Evaluation Completed.

The evaluation marks an important milestone in Femili PNG’s journey, providing valuable insights into the organisation’s achievements, challenges and opportunities for growth. As Femili PNG prepares its next Strategic Plan, the findings and recommendations will help strengthen its efforts to improve services for survivors of family and sexual violence and

contribute to a safer and more supportive Papua New Guinea for women, children and families. Femili PNG would like to thank PNG Women Lead and the PNGAus Partnership for funding this important evaluation. The organisation also extends its gratitude to the University of Papua New Guinea School of Business and Public Policy and the ANU-UPNG Partnership for hosting the workshop and facilitating discussions on the evaluation findings,
