CERTAIN candidates in the Port Moresby North-West by-election are questioning the manner in which ballot boxes are counted in Ward 1 – United Church in Hanuabada.

The ballot boxes are said to be within the reach of one of the candidate’s area which they alleged looks very suspicious.

The candidates including Dr Thaddeus Kambanei, Joe Tonde, Anna Kavana Bais and several others have raised concern today in a press conference among other issues including the alleged change of police (security) personnel and counting venue not being centralised. https://fb.watch/61xtdbeKcE/

They have also indicated to call off their scrutineers from various counting venues tomorrow and front up at the PNG Electoral Commission office to sought explanation from the acting Electoral Commissioner, Simon Sinai of the issues raised.

Spokesman Dr Kambanei also sounded a warning that the 2022 National General Elections will be riddle with corruption if such practices in the Moresby North-West by-election are allowed as a norm.
