BSP Financial Group Limited has officially handed over its 8th project under the 50for50 GivimBek Initiative – a brand-new multipurpose hall for Tubusereia Junior High School in Central Province.

The project was identified and nominated by BSP staff from Tubusereia Village and co-funded under BSP’s Community Project and 50for50 GivimBek Initiative Hiri Koiari MP, Hon. Keith Iduhu, and School Board project funding.

The hall now provides students with a safe, covered space for assemblies, replacing the need to stand in the hot sun or rain. It will also serve as a venue for parents and community gatherings.

Officiating at the handover, BSP Board Chairman Mr. Robert Bradshaw said investing in education has been rewarding for the Bank.

“Through BSP’s Community Project and 50for50 GivimBek Initiative, BSP has built new classrooms, supplied desks, and provided laptops and computers to various schools throughout the country,” Mr. Bradshaw said.

“These projects are only successful with community support and by building valuable relationships with local government, community leaders and businesses.”

The bank’s community investment has reached some of the most rural areas in Papua New Guinea, and BSP remains the only bank that invests millions annually in communities.

Mr. Bradshaw added, “this year, the banks Community Projects and 50for50 GivimBek Initiative has supported new infrastructure builds; contributed to health, education, sports and community wellbeing; and invested in community WASH projects, such as bore water projects and the supply of water tanks in response to the El Nino.”

“These meaningful contributions to communities in need demonstrate how the power of community and business partnerships can improve lives and leave lasting changes that make a difference.”

He further thanked the school and the people of Tubusereia Village for welcoming BSP into the village to complete the project. He urged the village and students to take care of the new building.

The Tubusereia project follows seven other 50for50 GivimBek projects already delivered in Western Highlands, Eastern Highlands, Hela, Simbu, Western, NCD and AROB as part of BSP’s 50th Anniversary community commitment.
