Prime Minister Expresses Condolences for PNG Defence Force Soldier

Prime Minister Hon. James Marape expressed his heartfelt condolences today to the family of PNG Defence Force Soldier, Private Dennis Domara, who tragically lost his life in a shooting incident in Tari last weekend.

“I pass my heartfelt condolences to the family of late Private Domara on the loss of this young soldier,” Prime Minister Marape said.

“I can assure them that the police will leave no stone unturned in their investigations.”

Four police officers have already been arrested in connection to this incident, and investigations are ongoing. A post-mortem will be conducted on the body of late Private Domara to ascertain the cause of death.

“It is unfortunate that this has happened, and the least we can do is to ensure that justice is done,” Prime Minister Marape affirmed.

Prime Minister Marape urged soldiers not to retaliate for the shooting of Private Domara.

“Allow the lawful pursuit of justice to take its course,” he said.

“No one runs away from the long arm of the law.”

Reflecting on the incident, Prime Minister Marape emphasised the importance of discipline among the disciplined forces.

“The use of firearms, especially among our disciplined forces, must be done in a responsible way,” he stated.

“Discharge of firearms by members of the disciplined forces, while intoxicated, is very dangerous.”
