BAVAROKO Primary School received a total of 140 new student desks under Governor Parkop’s school infrastructure development initiative aimed at improving learning environments and educational across schools in the National Capital District.
The initiative, delivered through the NCDC Education Division, focuses on the construction of new classrooms, improvement and rehabilitation of school toilet facilities, and other infrastructure upgrades in schools throughout the city.
To complement these infrastructure developments, the fabrication and supply of new student desks were included under the program.
The desk supply initiative is not limited to newly built classrooms but is intended to support schools across NCD where there is a need for classroom furniture.
Bavaroko Primary School, one of NCD’s oldest primary schools with a student population of more than 2,000 students, is among the schools benefiting from the program.
Head Teacher Ms. Wency Gorua thanked Governor Parkop and the National Capital District Commission for the timely support, noting that the desks would help address a longstanding shortage experienced by the school.
“Some of our classrooms lacked desks, some students sit on the floor. Some parents purchased desks or built their own for their children.
We are grateful for this support as it will greatly improve the learning environment for our students,” Ms Gorua said.
She added that the size and design of the desks are well suited for upper primary students and will provide a more comfortable learning experience in the classroom.
Under the desk supply program, eight contractors have been identified to manufacture and supply 2,000 desks for schools across the National Capital District.
The initiative forms part of NCDC’s broader commitment to improving school infrastructure and ensuring students have access to safe, conducive, and well-equipped learning environments throughout the city.
