CHARITY organization, Life PNG Care Inc. is proposing to build a new K15 million centre for disadvantaged children at Gerehu suburb in the Nation’s Capital District.

Director of Life PNG Care Inc Collin Pake Yakio told this paper that they were planning to build what is to be known as Pikinini Village which will house an early childhood learning centre, a school, a student mess and a multi-purpose building.

Mr Yakio said securing funds for the charity’s major project was not an issue but securing the portion of land was.

He said they have met and made numerous attempts to speak to ministers for land but to no avail as there was no positive feedback.

“We sighted a portion of land at Gerehu suburb and asked the land ministers for it but our proposal has fallen to deaf ears,” Mr Yakio said.

“We are not asking for money from the Government, all we ask for is to make the piece of land available to us so that we build the new facility that will serve the unfortunate and under-privileged children who are roaming the streets of Port Moresby and other major towns and cities.” Mr Yakio said since the inception of Life PNG Care they have received no funding support from the Government.

He said Life PNG Care was providing opportunity, care and support] to the less unfortunate children of this country thus government support was needed.

Life PNG Care Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides care and support to disadvantage children.

The charity organization has spent about K500, 000 annually and K3.5 million in investments since it started its work.
