Cricket Papua New Guinea (CPNG) has hailed major sponsor Boroko Motors Limited and supporting partners following the successful staging of the 2026 Boroko Motors Isuzu Men’s T20 Smash.

The tournament, which concluded with an exciting grand final at Amini Park in Port Moresby on Sunday 29 March 2026, once again showcased the growing strength and depth of cricket across the country, while providing a competitive platform for local talent from different regions.

CPNG acknowledged Boroko Motors Ltd for its continued commitment to the development of cricket in PNG in the annual tournament, alongside the valuable contributions of supporting partners Trukai Industries Limited, Pure Water, Steel Industries Limited, MJ Electrical and TE PNG.

Tournament Director Rarua Dikana praised the collective effort behind the week long tournament (March 19-29) stating that the competition continues to grow each year.

“This year’s T20 Smash has been another success, both on and off the field. We’ve seen strong performances from all teams, and the level of competition keeps improving. This would not be possible without the support of our sponsors, partners, and the dedication of our players, officials, and volunteers,” Dikana said.

Dikana also extended his appreciation to the Cricket PNG board, management, and staff for their commitment throughout the week-long tournament, and acknowledged the strong support from fans both at the venue and watching online.

“I would like to thank our board, management, and staff for a committed week in delivering this tournament. To our fans who came out to the field and those who followed the matches online, your support has been outstanding and is vital to the continued growth of the game,” he said.

CPNG Board Chairman Michael Harrison also acknowledged the role of partners in driving the sport forward.

“We are grateful to Boroko Motors and all our partners for their ongoing support. Their investment in cricket is helping us build pathways for our players and strengthen the game nationwide. The success of this tournament reflects what can be achieved through strong partnerships,” Harrison said.

Dealer principal Boroko Motors Ltd, Shauwn Ellis, who was present during the grand final awards on Sunday 29 March, commended the tournament and participating teams.

“It was great to see all teams out on the field competing at a high level. The tournament continues to bring communities together and highlight the talent we have in Papua New Guinea. We’re proud to be part of this journey with Cricket PNG,” Ellis said.

This year saw an increase in players from different provinces included in the four teams; Cassowaries, Mariners, Mudmen and Black Bass. Outstanding player  performance was seen from Central Province, Milne Bay, Morobe and Gulf Province. With the champions Cassowaries crowed this year, Cricket PNG looks forward to 2027 for a bigger annual Izusu Men’s T20 Smash.

Cricket PNG reaffirmed its commitment to delivering quality domestic competitions and strengthening partnerships that contribute to the growth of the sport across the country.
