Four overseas heads commissioned

State Minister Assisting Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Hon. Justine Tkatchenko has commissioned four newly appointed heads of overseas missions in Port Moresby today (Monday 18)

The commissioning ceremony saw High Commissioner-designated to New Zealand, H.E. Mr. Sakias Tameo, Consul General-designate to Sydney, Mr. Ponabe Yuwa, Consul-General-designated to Brisbane, Mr. Reatau Rau, Consul-designate to Cairns Mr. Damien Arabagali.
The four have sworn an oath to be fully committed and to serve the independent state of Papua New Guinea and its people through their assigned responsibilities while adhering to the constitution.

Witnessing the commissioning ceremony were Secretary for Foreign affairs Mr. Elias Wohengu, Foreign Affairs Minister Justin Tkatchenko, foreign affairs staff and other stake holders.

Tkatchenko while congratulating the four said that they must do their best for the benefit of the country. He appealed to their families to back support them as they take the responsibility to represent the state bilaterally.
Minister Tkatchenko said New Zealand and Australia has been a partner for PNG for quite a long time and the recent security agreement between Australia and PNG will strengthen security and also sealed the long relationship between the two nations.

High Commissioner-designate to New Zealand Mr Sakias Tameo expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Minister for Foreign Affairs for putting the appointment to the NEC for approval.

He said they have sworn an oath to represent the independent state of Papua New Guinea and its people and will do their best to see progress in their respective areas.

He added that New Zealand is a good country which most of the time do business with other pacific island countries and a little with PNG. Tameo said with his role as the High Commissioner-designated to New Zealand, He would make sure New Zealand and PNG effectively do business in foreign affairs space.
