The PNG Indigenous Men’s side delivered an outstanding performance at the 2026 National Indigenous Cricket Championships in Australia, recording two victories in a single day, including a commanding win over Tasmania on Tuesday, 14 April.
In their second match of the day, PNG won the toss and elected to bat first, producing a strong batting display to post 7/189 in 20 overs. Lega Siaka led from the front with an impressive 62, well supported by Boio Ray who added 47, while Hila Vare anchored the innings with an unbeaten 34* to ensure a competitive total.
Tasmania, in reply, struggled to build partnerships against a disciplined PNG bowling attack and were bowled out for 78 in 16.3 overs, handing PNG a convincing victory.
The bowlers were clinical in execution, with Michael Charlie delivering a standout performance of 4/8 to be named Player of the Match. He was well supported by Dauncey Tom with 2/9, while Sese Bau and Assadollah Vala contributed with a wicket each to wrap up the innings.
The result capped a good day for the PNG Indigenous side, highlighting their strength across both batting and bowling as they continue to build momentum in the tournament.
The PNG Indigenous Side will be aiming to extend their winning streak as the competition continues.
