The outgoing Acting Chief Secretary Ambassador Isaac Lupari on the eve of his retirement from the public service took part in a ground breaking ceremony to mark the beginning of the construction of 20 new houses for the Government Printing (GPO) Office Staff Home Ownership Scheme at the Rainbow Estate, Gerehu today.
Ambassador Lupari stressed that housing for public servants as well as the private sector must be number one priority on any government’s agenda and he was honored to have assisted the GPO to make the project come into effect.
“It must be the government’s responsibility to assist public servants to own homes. Housing is a necessity in life, having a house gives you security, stability and makes you productive at work ,” Ambassador Lupari said.
Government Printer Christine Lenturut thanked Ambassador Lupari for his support and assistance to the GPO home ownership scheme.
Twenty GPO officers are the first to take part in the home ownership programme at the Rainbow Estate, Gerehu.
This morning Ambassador Lupari and the General Manager Emmanuel Ayopi of the Contractor Mobile Works broke the ground with spades to mark the ground breaking ceremony in the presence of Government Printer Ms Lenturut.
