MOROBE Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Chief Superintendent Samson Siguyaru, has directed the residents of Wau and Watut residing at the Six Compound in Wau town to surrender the suspects involved in the alleged murder of a young man.

PPC Siguyaru gave them until Monday 13April 2026 to surrender the suspects to the police.

PPC said failure to comply with the directives would result in further enforcement actions to be taken, including the arrest of individuals, parents and community leaders, for harboring the suspects.

PPC Siguyaru returned to Wau yesterday to ensure enforcement of this directive.

Morobe Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Chief Superintendent, Samson Siguyaru.

Police alleged that a young man from Biangai village in the Wau-Waria District was allegedly killed by unknown persons, believed to be individuals from the Waria community residing at Six Compound settlement in Wau.

“In retaliation, the Biangai community set up a roadblock along the main highway leading to Waria and Garaina, demanding that the murder suspects be brought forward to the hands of law enforcement officers,” PPC Siguyaru said. “Initial attempts by police to remove the roadblock were unsuccessful.”

“The efforts by the local member for Wau-Waria and Wau Police to negotiate with the local leaders from the Six Compound was unsuccessful as well.”

PPC Siguyaru travelled to Wau on Tuesday 07th April 2026 following the Easter period and convened a joint meeting with the leaders from Biangai, Waria, and Watut communities.

The PPC directed the Wau and Watut communities residing at the Six Compound to surrender the suspects and instructed the Biangai community to remove the roadblock.

He said on the roadblock was removed last Wednesday, restoring normal traffic flow, but the Waria community at the Six Compound had yet to comply with the directives to surrender the suspects.
