THE PNG Party has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the newly registered Nesenel Unity Party, describing the partnership as the beginning of a new era of political stability and good governance in Papua New Guinea.

The agreement was signed during the launch of the Nesenel Unity Party, with PNG Party leader and Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Balden Namah, saying it marked the first formal agreement of its kind for his party.

“For me, this is the first time PNG Party is signing, not an MOU, but a Memorandum of Agreement with a political party. And not just another political party, but a new political party coming onto the horizon,” Mr Nama said.

He described the partnership as “momentous, historical and significant”, saying both parties shared the same founding principle: God First.

“PNG Party policy number one is God First Policy. JOY means Jesus first, Others, and Yourself last. If every leader and bureaucrat practised this, this country would be more advanced than any other country in the world,” he said.

Mr Namah said Papua New Guinea was rich in natural resources but continued to struggle with poverty.

He said the partnership would focus on transparency, accountability and good governance.

“This relationship will provide strong leadership to this country, and together we will create economic growth and sustainability for our people and for future generations,” he said.

He said the parties’ shared goal was to build a country that is “God-fearing, prosperous and free”, as envisioned by the nation’s founding fathers.

Nesenel Unity Party leader Hon. Richard Maru thanked Mr Namah and the PNG Party for partnering with his newly launched party ahead of the 2027 National General Election.

“We are going to work side-by-side, hand-in-hand, and together we will select our candidates, strategise for the elections, and work together to be part of a new government,” Mr Maru said.

He said the partnership represented a new beginning for Papua New Guinea as the country looked towards the next 50 years.

“And we believe we will set the direction for a new beginning for our country, as we chart the next 50 years under our new vision and new core policies,” he said.

“To Hon. Balden Namah, our deepest gratitude that you have chosen to be the first party to join hands with the Nesenel Unity Party, as we chart the course together.”

Mr Maru said the Nesenel Unity Party was committed to working with like-minded political leaders, not only to win the 2027 election but also to form the next government.

“Our party is committed to work with like-minded party leaders, not just to win the elections and sit in the next parliament, but to be part of a group that will form the next government,” he said.

He said the party would develop a new vision and implement core policies, including major new policies aimed at changing the course of the nation and helping Papua New Guinea achieve its Vision 2050 goals.

In closing, Mr Nama reaffirmed the PNG Party’s commitment to the partnership.

“PNG Party, we are known as the reformers. We are the changer and fixer of the country, and we pledge to stand together with Nesenel Unity Party to craft a new pathway for our country and our people,” he said.
