NEW police recruits attached to Bereina and Kairuku, in Central Province were cautioned to maintain policing code of ethics in discipline, integrity and professionalism while executing policing duties.
Staff Officer of Provincial Police Commander Joseph Salle, Inspector Kingsley Lua stressed during the induction training of new police recruits at Bereina on Monday.
” All you new recruits must maintain discipline at all levels while on police duty. Always carry out your policing duties with integrity and professionalism as police officers.
Inspector Lua said the other core value of the induction training was to give to familiarise the new recruits of the districts in Central Province and its settings.
” The induction training is basically to give a run down of the districts in Central with it’s settings, whereby, they will go through intensive training to know about the settings in Kairuku, Goilala, Hiri Koiari, Rigo and Abau.
” Thus, in this training, we prepare the new recruits what to expect when they are out in these districts while executing their policing duties,” he said.
He said the Central Police Command had lacked police manpower for some time and thanked the Police Commissioner to release 13 new recruits to the Central Command to boost its police manpower.
” We selected Kairuku to deploy this new recruits because the district is on par with its policing in the district,” he said.
“In future, if we are fortunate to have new batch of police recruits, we will deploy them to either Rigo or Abau depending on police accomodations,” he said.
Chief executive officer for Kairuku district, Henry Oa challenged the new recruits that their attachment to Kairuku to start their career in policing comes with dedication and commitment.
” Today is not just the start of your training, but also the start of your commitment to the country, province and every community in Bereina and Kairuku who will look to you for safety, fairness and hope in life.
” Your choice in wearing this uniform means more than just a job. It means that you will be the first person some one will run to in his or worst day.
” Remember that you are not joining the police force to have power over people, but you are joining the police force to have responsibility over people,” Mr Maino said.
