Prime Minister James Marape Arrives in Biala, Nakanai District, WNBP

Prime Minister Hon James Marape has just arrived in Bialla in the Nakanai District of West New Britain province to officially launch the first 10km of the 42km Bamus to Noahu road section of the New Britain Highway under the Connect PNG Program. The Prime Minister is being accompanied by the Minister for Works and Highways Hon Peter Tisamlili Jnr, West New Britain Governor Sasindran Muthuvel MP, Minister for Oil Palm and MP for Nakanai District Hon. Francis Maneke to officially represent the people of West New Britain Province. The PM will first witness and see the formal handing over of the Bamus to Noahu road at Kaibaiya village of the East Nakanai LLG area.

Prime Minister will later go and unveil the plaque and opening of the Nakanai District Headquarters Office complex.

A modern infrastructure built at a cost of K5 million to house most of the basic government functions and service delivery machinery for the district.

The Nakanai District, which was formed after splitting from the Talasea District, has seen rapid transformation in terms of basic infrastructure.

A K9.6 million new modern police barracks is being built by tax credit funding by the Hargy Oil Palm company. It’s a total of 16 modern duplexes. A new police station for the district was also built. Just in under 5 years, things have changed.

The Nakanai District CEO Jerry Osa says the people of Nakanai are happy that the Prime Minister and his Pangu Pati lead Marape-Rosso Government is connecting remote districts and villages under the Connect PNG programme.

Bialla is the central district, which will serve both businesses and districts and link services from Kimbe Town to Rabaul in East New Britain Province.

The Department of Works officials say under the Connect PNG programme, the New Britain Highway is a vital link for the oil palm producing East and West New Britain provinces will be connected.

The road, Bamus to Noahu, is a vital link, and only the Badi River Bridge needs a bridge to fully connect the two provinces.

PM Marape is now heading to witness the formal handing over of the road by the contractor China Rail Engineering Corporation Group to the government at Kabaiya in the East Nakanai LLG.

The Prime Minister is being accompanied by the West New Britain Governor Sasindral Muthuvel, Minister for Works Peter Tsiamalili Jnr, Works Secretary Mr David Holemba, and Nakanai MP Francis Maneke.
