Telikom PNG has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding reliable connectivity, strengthening digital infrastructure and supporting Papua New Guinea’s transformation into a more connected digital economy.
Telikom PNG Chief Executive Officer Amos Tepi, in his address marking Papua New Guinea’s 51st Independence Anniversary, said the occasion provided an opportunity to reflect on the country’s progress and the important role Telikom continues to play in national development.
Tepi said Telikom had been part of Papua New Guinea’s development journey for generations, evolving from the former Post and Telecommunications Corporation through the development of mobile services, the merger of Telikom and bmobile, and the continued expansion of telecommunications networks and digital services.
“Our journey has always been about keeping Papua New Guineans connected,” Tepi said.
He said connectivity today goes beyond making telephone calls or accessing the internet, with telecommunications infrastructure increasingly important for creating economic opportunities, enabling businesses, supporting communities and allowing Papua New Guineans to participate in the digital economy.

Connecting More Papua New Guineans
Tepi said one of Telikom’s key priorities was to bridge the digital divide, particularly by improving infrastructure and extending reliable services to underserved communities.
He said improved connectivity could provide greater access to education, healthcare, business opportunities and essential services while allowing more Papua New Guineans to participate meaningfully in the digital economy.
Telikom was also moving beyond traditional telecommunications as it supports the country’s wider digital transformation.
“Through our investments in digital infrastructure, emerging technologies and strategic partnerships, we are strengthening the country’s digital capabilities and creating opportunities for businesses, government and communities,” Tepi said.
He stressed that Telikom’s ultimate focus was not simply technology, but using technology to create opportunities, enable development and improve the lives of Papua New Guineans.

Tepi also acknowledged Telikom employees across the country, describing them as central to the organisation’s achievements.
He thanked technical and field teams, customer service personnel, sales, finance and corporate staff for their commitment and contribution to keeping the country connected.
“As we transform Telikom, we must continue to transform ourselves,” he said, encouraging employees to embrace innovation, take ownership and remain focused on delivering improved outcomes for customers and the country.
Looking ahead, Tepi said Telikom would continue strengthening its network, investing in digital capabilities and improving customer experience while responding to the changing needs of Papua New Guineans.
He said strong partnerships and collaboration would remain essential to Telikom’s continued growth and contribution to Papua New Guinea’s digital future.
