Community Rugby League Plan launched

PNG Rugby Football League (PNGRFL) has launched the Community Rugby League Plan at the Santos National Football Stadium in Port Moresby today.
The plan aims at building Rugby League department that leads the evolution of community rugby league across Papua New Guinea.
It develops different age groups including both male and female as well and developing programs and initiatives to support coaches, referees, trainers, volunteers and officials.
Pacific Program Coordinator for NRL, Mark Mom said he believes that the plan is a success for PNGRFL.
“If you don’t get your community in order at the grassroots level, everything that filters up to the top where the bright light are cannot be successful.” Mom said.
He said it is very important from the NRL point of view that this plan delivers a blue print for success in PNGRFL if the work is done.
Mom said NRL is ready to support PNGRFL to see this plan come to a success.
He thanked the Australian Government through the Australian High Commission for funding the work towards drafting the plan.
He also thanked Marc Portus who is the (GM) High Performance with PNGRFL and the author of the plan for the effort in completing the plan.
First Secretary (Program Strategy and Gender) to Australian High Commission, Maegan Clarkson said that Australia is proud to support many wonderful community supporting programs in PNG including rugby league.
She said that they know the benefits which sports bring at a wide range and such engagement will bring transformation to the lives of individual citizens.
CEO of PNGRFL Mr. Stanley Hondina thanked Kumul Petroleum Holdings Ltd (KPHL) for investing K4 million for the implementation of the plan and extend his appreciation on the continued support KPHL gives to PNGRFL.
