PRIME Minister Hon James Marape says his government will install Technical Vocational Education Training Centers in prisons as part of inmate’s rehabilitation during the SME Breakfast in Port Moresby on Thursday.

PM Marape was impressed by the clothes, bilums, arts and crafts and food produced by Bomana inmates that were on show and commended the work of the Correction Service (CS) prisoner’s rehabilitation program.

He thanked CS for facilitating the inmates in learning SME skills as part of their rehabilitation.

“We encourage prison industries, which is part of Pangu Pati policy directives which I am happy to see being implemented by CS at Bomana,” PM Marape said.

He said prisoners must not be wasted “they are given three meals a day and they must learn skills and come out as better men and women”.

“We want to establish TVET Centers in Prisons so inmates can learn new skills to help them make a living when they come out of jail.”
