YUMI FM PNG MusiK awards is set to make its return after four-years of inactive due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Celebrating the effort and the talents of local artist and song writers, the PNGFM Limited, parent company of Yumi FM, Legend FM, Nau FM, PNG Hausbung and magic factory are glad to announce the return of the music award.
First event is set for this Saturday June 17, 2023 at Lamana Gold Club arena.
The events platinum sponsor is Coca-Cola PNG through its Coke Studio music platform along with Vodafone PNG as the Gold Sponsor.
This year marks 18 years of Yumi FM Musik Awards effort to recognize and celebrate the work of both male and female artists.
This Saturday’s event will celebrate the work of the musical artist in the year 2021 and 2022.
PNGF LTD general manager Ms Rosemarie Botong expressed that this year’s celebration also has an international artist of the year category in association with Australasian Performing Rights Association (APRA).
Nominees of the 2023 international artist of the year category in association with APRA includes:
Sailas Kania – Frangipani SSM (Saii Kai ft Kronos and Cammy Bee)
Elias Samuel – Kunai 55 (Elbig Raingz ft Kronos)
Clinton Malele –Eastside (Tonton Malele and DJ Dirty Fingers.
Ms Botong also announced a total of 10 categories for the award and there are; Best new artist of the year, Artist of the year, Song of the year, Male artists of the year, Female artists of the year, International Artist of the year (APRA), Duo/group of the year, Producer of the year, Justine Killi award, (listeners choice), and People’s choice song of the year (listener choice).
Ms Botong further congratulates all the nominees and the contributors to the development of PNG music industry.
Moreover, Coca-Cola PNG Marketing manager Rachel Nainggolan said they are glad to renew their partnership saying “music possesses a unique power” to unite and inspire people.
She said the Coke Studio was launched in 2016 and has served as a signature music platform that provides avenue to legendary local music to be aired and are looking forward to be part of the event this Saturday.
