Pioneer Lagaip Open MP Hon.Aimos Akem will accompany the casket of the late Paiela-Pogera Open MP Hon.Maso Karipe tomorrow to Enga Province for burial.
Akem attended the Funeral Service of the late Paiela-Pogera MP Hon.Maso Karipe held at the Sione Kami Memorial Church earlier today in Port Moresby as it prepares to fly home to his final resting place.
Akem described the unfortunate death of the pioneer MP as ‘devastating’ when the new district needed political leadership in anticipation of the reopening of the giant Pogera gold mine after almost three years of closure.
Akem was emotional as the late leader was the pioneer MP for the district, just like him, who had greater visions for the people who he dearly held close to his heart but was cut off short by his death.
Coincidently, the casket of the late leader was brought into Parliament for the State Funeral just after Akem was officially sworn into Parliament to take his seat for the first time last week.
Akem is expected to accompany the body of the late leader when it leaves Port Moresby tomorrow to be laid to rest in his electorate.
The Paiela-Pogera and the Lagaip Open Electorates are the two pioneer districts in Enga Province which formally came into existence after the Parliament approved for their maiden election in the recent 2022 National General Elections.
The late Hon.Maso Karipe was a member of the ruling Pangu Pati who passed away overseas while undergoing medical treatment.
