TWO NEW POLICE BARRACKS OFFICIALLY OPENED IN IALIBU PANGIA DISTRICT

"50 New Houses for Police Officers in Ialibu Pangia District, SHP"

Former Prime Minister, Member for Ialibu Pangia and PNC Party Leader Hon. Peter O’Neil was accompanied by members from both sides of the house to the official launching of two newly constructed Police Barracks in his electorate today.

These two new police barracks, consisting of 50 houses were officially opened by the local MP today, together with SHP Provincial Governor William Titpe Powi, Mendi Munihu MP Raphael Tonpi, Menyamya MP Hon. Solen Loifa, alternate PM Rainbo Paita, deputy opposition leader James Nomane and few colleague members from the opposition.

The Ialibu Pangia District Development Authority and its District Administration, together with the local people was pleased to host a high delegation of government and opposition MPs on their home soil, following this memorable ceremony today.

This significant scheme is a major impact project under Law and Justice reformation in compliance to Rural Policing and Safety Programming.

This initiative by the IPDDA is focused on working in partnership and close collaboration with Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) in providing better housing for police officers who will be assigned to serve in the District.

This Grand opening held today at Lama Village (Lama Police Barracks) signifies a sign of progress for the people of Ialibu Pangia District and the province in terms of service delivery in much needed areas.

Law and Order has been a legacy issue in Southern Highlands Province, after continuous tribal fights during national general elections, and Peter O’Neil said that this approach will assist towards improving policing services in the province.
