NCD-BASED POLICE OFFICERS ARRESTED IN BALIMO WESTERN PROVINCE

TWO policemen attached to a police station in the National Capital District were arrested and charged by police officers in Balimo Western Province last week for having in their possession unlicensed firearms.

The commander of Border Command Assistant Commissioner of Police Perou N`Dranou confirmed that one policeman is a regular policeman based at Hohola Police Station. At the same time, the other is a reservist police officer based in NCD.

ACP N`Dranou further added that according to the police officers at Balimo the officers flew in on Monday, July 22, 2024, in a Tropic Air flight. He said the policemen were surprised when police officers from Balimo approached them.

“The two officers on arrival when met by the officers at Balimo told the local policemen that they were following a black flight that was coming in from Western Australia to Bali in Indonesia and then would go to Western province.  The police officers further question them about any orders from their superiors because they are in another command. The reservist then told the local policemen that they were following up on some past cases,” N`Dranou said.

ACP N`Dranou added that after questioning the two policemen they then asked them if the gun they were carrying was licensed which they said it was a private gun. The policemen then asked them for the license and it was confirmed they did not have a license so they both who had the firearms were arrested and charged for having unlicensed firearms.

The police officers from Western Province also confirmed with NCD Metsupt Silva Sika that the police officers were based in NCD and went there without any authorization.

“Once again I am warning RPNGC members from other commands are not authorized to travel to the Border command unless approval is given by the Divisional Commander. In the pretext of performing legitimate police businesses, members are involved in illegal activities. Or sponsored by people with illegal motives. That will have to be stopped immediately.

“I am also calling on other Divisional Commanders and their PPCs to take stock of the members under their commands. We all need to prevent such illegal arrangements by members who are easily influenced to get involved in illegal activities that would benefit them. In other words, using the Police for self gains/benefits.”

All PPCs and PSCs from the Border command had been directed to apprehend Police officers travelling to their provinces without approval from their Divisional Commander, ACP N`Dranou further added.
