Eagles remain hopeful to win grand final

THE Wamp NGA Mt. Hagen Eagles who fought hard in the major semi-final showdown on Sunday against Enga Mioks, remain hopeful to win the grand final on September 15.

Eagles booked early grand final spot of the Digicel ExxonMobil in a close chase major semi-final match with the Enga Mioks.

The Eagles registered a total of 16 points, defecting Mioks who scored 12 points at fulltime, despite Mioks making good comeback towards the remaining minutes of the second half with much confidence and desperation to cross the try line.

Both teams tussled hard to control their game with number of penalized tackles which gave rise to bring their score line up.

Hagen Eagles enforcer Wari Rex showcased a classic footy, scoring a double for the flying the team.

It was Eagles’ playmaker Sakias Komati who dug deep through Mioks lines that had a skillful execution and footy banging on the same spot.

Mioks on the other hand recorded their first four pointer following a penalty runs to the Eagles line, with Captain Roger Kenney diving over the try line.

Supporters had their take of the match with Mioks fans shouting for more points added on their scoreboard, but the fulltime siren could not help.

Eagles, who are now cleared to have taste of grand final on September 15 will have a good rest and prepare to meet their opponent.
