NOT just a minor premiership, the Wamp NGA Mt. Hagen Eagles have also claimed the Championship for this year Digicel ExxonMobil cup.
The Hagen Eagles were trailing with six points, whilst the Wigmen were in front with 14 points during the first 40 minutes of the match.
Back from the shed to the second half of the match, the Hagen Eagles registered four tries respectively by Levai Andrew, Sakias Komati, Wingti Raima, and Benji Ben, with a only try to the Wigmen from Siki Konden.
Hagen Eagles were able to seal off their victory with a total of 28 points to 20 infront of the fantastic crowd of supporters going on both sides.
The Wigmen could not hold on to their defence after opening up with strong confidence in the first half of the match.
Their defence seems to be tested and dismantled once their opponents came closer to their territory line.
Eagles playmaker Sakias Komati, displayed an outstanding style of footy play and courage, having to regroup his team mates and enter into their opponents in goal mark.
Komati was able to score an individual try, coming from a deep line of attack that lured the Wigmen’s defence line to stretch far out to the wing, opening up the middle to cross over the try line.
He also made some line plays towards his side on the left sending his outside centre reach out to the goal area.
Komati said they are grateful for their coach in guiding them through to winning the grand final.
He also thanked Hon. William Duma and other leaders that supported them with funding.
