CONVENTION TREKKING COMMITTEE OUTLINES ITINERARY

WITH only 21 days remaining before the PNG ATSA 20th Biennial conventions starts in Oro Province, the convention trekking committee are also on their feet ironing all their plans before they take the Kokoda track to Oro on the 4th of December in a few days’ time.

According to the chairman Mr. Peniel Ulao, the estimate number of delegates walking the Kokoda track is around 70 to 80 inclusive of both the professionals and students.

The committee was able to have one of their representative who have went ahead to scout the track as well as spoke with the surrounding communities and local authorities informing them of their walk on the Kokoda track.

Mr. Ulao explained that the village people along the Kokoda track are informed and they also looking forward to receiving the delegates as they passed through during their walk.

“The committee is made up of both the students and the local experience trekkers and we are confident and looking forward for a wonderful trekking experience”, Mr. Ulao assured.

“Walking will take us 10 days which we are considerate that we do not want to rush the delegates, and we intend to arrive in time for the main convention.”

He further highlighted, the team has been able to mark certain points where the delegates take rest and then proceed with their walk.

“For our final night of walk, we will spend at the Kokoda station which will conclude our walking progress, and we should head straight to the convention sites,” the Chairman explained.

Chairman and his team are insisting on the members who are made known to be walking the tract, to work closely with the leaders and adhere to importance messages shared now and towards the actual trekking.

Their main place of meeting will be at the Bautama mission ground which they are urging all delegates within the city and those joining in from outside provinces to communicate with their ATSA leaders and should be with the whole team before they leave for the trek.
