TALAI Spartans reign victorious after defeating the Varatau Brothers 18 points to 8 in the second leg of Rigo Rice grand finale of at Bava Park yesterday.
Spartans walked away with K10, 000 while runner up Veratau Brothers received K5, 000 cash prize.

SS Dolphins received K3, 000 on third place after defeating Burial Reds on 16 points to 8 for the third placing play off.
Talai Spartans team captain Ako Peter thanked all the hard-working people behind the team, from the coaching staff to the energetic supporters for the continuous support and making sure the Talai Spartans reached the leg two of Rigo Rice Cup Tournament.
“First half did not go as expected. We had a lot of errors and ended six points draw at half time.”
“We corrected those errors in the first half and we won the game,” excited captain stated.
For the Spartans this win brings joy to the sponsors, supports and family members as they finally win a grand finale.
“In 2015 we took the team in for the first time in the Moresby South rugby League competition and lost to Gabutu Dragons in the grand final,” he said.
Spartans have reached the grand final after 10 years of consistent attempts of competition in Port Moresby and finally reign victorious as the winner of Rigo Rice Cup Leg two competition.
Talai Spartans together with the runner up team and the third placing team now qualify to play for the Mega competition which is K200,000 prize money with the inaugural Rigo Rice Cup Tournament.
