AMIDST the Vote of No Confidence against the Prime Minister James Marape today, three Members from the Opposition were seen absent from taking part.
The three notable MPs included; Member for North Fly James Donald, Governor for Simbu Province Noah Kool and Governor for Eastern Highlands Province Simon Sia.
Prior to the VoNC, Member for North Fly issued a statement that he won’t be participating in the upcoming VoNC against the Prime Minister citing personal principles and lack of a suitable nominee.
Last Friday evening, Donald made a public post on his social media platform announcing that he would not support either Prime Minister James Marape or the Opposition’s nominee, Sir Peter Ipatas.
“I will not be voting for James Marape or Sir Peter Ipatas, but will abstain when it comes to a vote,” Donald stated.
As a Member of the Opposition, Donald said his conscience and commitment to the people of North Fly take precedence over party lines.
“I have no hard feelings, grudges or personal vendetta against Sir Peter; however, I respectfully believe that he is not the best person to lead this nation at this point in time,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Governor Kool and Governor Sia didn’t make any public announcements as to why they will not participate in today’s VoNC session.
