PNG POWER Ltd (PPL) advises all customers and stakeholders that Easipay vending services, which were disrupted earlier due to technical failure, are now partially restored. Vending has resumed at PNG Power Head Office, Boroko, and other locations where PPL has direct system links, including regional centres.
The outage was caused by degraded performance within the central Easipay server environment, which is managed by Easipay system vendors and Engineers. This central server is responsible for generating all electricity tokens across every payment channel. Due to its age and declining stability, the system experienced significant failures that affected all banks, mobile operators, supermarkets, and third‑party vendors.
PNG Power’s engineers and technicians have been working around the clock with the Easipay system engineers to stabilise the platform. As part of the long‑term solution, PPL has initiated the procurement of new server infrastructure. In the interim, the Easipay system engineers are relocating the platform to a new IT environment to improve performance and reliability.
PPL is also advised that the BSP link is expected to come online tonight, depending on server performance as stabilisation continues.
In addition, PNG Power is developing a contingency plan to ensure continuity of service and will provide a further update tomorrow at 10am following a full technical briefing to the Executive Team.
The CEO reassures customers that no one will lose their money. All transactions are recorded and can be retrieved once vending is fully restored. Customers who paid but did not receive their token are encouraged to keep their meter number, payment amount, and payment method ready for verification.
“Restoring Easipay vending remains our highest priority. Our teams are working overtime with system engineers to stabilise the platform and return all services to normal. We thank our customers for their patience and understanding,” the CEO said.
