SP Brewery has reaffirmed its longstanding commitment to Morobe province with the official commissioning of a rooftop solar system and the opening of a new warehouse at its Lae Brewery.
Speaking at the opening, Managing Director, Ed Weggemans highlighted the important role Morobe province plays in SP Brewery’s operation.
“Morobe province’s strategic location has significantly benefited our business over the years. The province is home to our second and largest brewery. These are individuals who bring skill, dedication and passion to our business every day.”

The official commissioning of the rooftop solar system also marks an important milestone in SP Brewery’s Net-Zero journey.
“At SP Brewery, we believe that we will only thrive if the
people and the communities around us, thrives. That is why we are on a mission to reduce our carbon footprint,” says Weggemans.
The goal is to replace fossil fuels with renewable energy.
Alongside the solar project, SP Brewery officially opened its new warehouse facility, enhancing its operational capacity in Lae.
“More importantly, this facility will also contribute to the local economy.
By strengthening our distribution and sales capabilities, we are supporting businesses that rely on our products. Our customers are essential to economic activity in this region, and by serving them better, we help stimulate growth, trade, and opportunitie s within Morobe Province.
This creates a ripple effect — from local suppliers to transport providers, to small businesses and families who benefit from a more vibrant economy.”
