BANK South Pacific Financial Group has continued its longstanding partnership with Papua New Guinea Swimming Inc. (PNGSI) through a sponsorship of K80, 000 as the Naming Rights Sponsor of the BSP Kundu National Aquatic Excellence Program.

This support enables PNGSI to deliver ongoing athlete development initiatives, educational programs, and training opportunities for coaches and technical officials in partnership with World Aquatics.

PNG Swimming Inc. President Ryan Pini welcomed BSP Financial Group back as a major partner of the sport.

“We are delighted to have BSP back on board and are extremely grateful for its renewed commitment to swimming in Papua New Guinea. BSP has played an important role in our journey over more than two decades, and its return provides welcome stability as we deliver our development priorities for 2026,” he said.

“This partnership directly supports PNG Swimming’s strategy to support, develop and grow aquatic sport. Through the BSP Kundu National Aquatic Excellence Program, our swimmers will have a structured pathway to develop their abilities and progress towards national and international competition,” he added.

“BSP’s support will also help us raise standards across the sport by creating education and development opportunities for our coaches and technical officials. Strong athletes need strong systems and capable people around them, and this partnership will help us build both,” he strated.

“We sincerely thank BSP Financial Group for renewing its confidence in PNG Swimming and investing in the development, wellbeing and aspirations of our athletes,”Pini said.

Over the years, the BSP Kundu National Aquatic Excellence Program has provided a structured pathway for young swimmers to progress through Junior, Intermediate and Target Squads, recognising excellence, nurturing talent, and preparing athletes to represent Papua New Guinea on the international stage.

BSP has been a proud supporter of junior swimming development in Papua New Guinea since 2004, helping to create opportunities for young athletes to pursue competitive and professional swimming careers. Through its partnership with PNGSI, BSP has contributed to the development of pathways that enable aspiring swimmers to progress from grassroots participation to elite-level competition, both nationally and internationally.

David Bishop, Head of Corporate Banking – Corporate South, said BSP was pleased to continue supporting PNGSI and the BSP Kundu National Aquatic Excellence Program.

“Our long-standing partnership with PNG Swimming Inc. is it is about creating opportunities for young Papua New Guineans to excel, develop life skills, and proudly represent our nation. We applaud PNGSI for its commitment to developing athletes, coaches and officials. This program has produced world-class athletes and look forward to seeing the continued success of PNG swimming,” he said.
