The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) will reconvene the Papua LNG Project Development Forum tomorrow Thursday, 6 August 2026, at APEC Haus in Port Moresby, bringing together national and provincial leaders, landowner representatives and project stakeholders to continue negotiations on one of Papua New Guinea’s largest resource developments.
The forum, convened by Minister for Petroleum Hon. Jimmy Maladina, MP, is expected to focus on critical issues surrounding the Development Forum process, including stakeholder presentations, landowner concerns and the way forward for benefit-sharing discussions.
According to the official agenda, the meeting will commence at 9:00am with opening remarks by Minister Maladina, followed by statements from the Director of Oil & Gas and Acting Managing Director of the National Petroleum Authority, Mr David Manau. Governors from Central and Gulf provinces will also address the forum alongside representatives of wellhead, trunkline, CPF, pipeline and plant site landowners.
Following the opening session, participants will break into facilitated discussions before reconvening for responses and a roadmap outlining the next steps in progressing the Papua LNG Project Development Forum. The day’s program concludes with closing announcements and prayer.
The reconvened forum forms part of a broader week-long engagement program running from 6–11 August, with project updates scheduled for 7 August, followed by a series of stakeholder meetings in the days ahead. Agenda items for subsequent meetings are expected to be confirmed during the forum.
The meeting comes at a significant time following recent discussions between the National Government, provincial governments and landowners over the structure of the Development Forum and the equitable distribution of benefits arising from the Papua LNG Project.
