THE people of Gereka community are now commuting with ease and comfort on their sealed road, thanks to the National Capital District Commission.
Local MP and Foreign Affairs Minister Hon. Justin Tkatchenko MP said finally the people of Gereka now have a proper sealed road.
“It’s a big facelift for Gereka. The road will continue all the way down to the Gereka village, as we move along, we look at the feeder roads.”
“This is Moresby South’s new final frontier before we get to Central province, I appreciate the patience, loyalty and the perseverance of all our people here at Gereka.
“You deserve the road, infrastructure, good community, well organized and well put together and have good leaders that can take this community forward for the benefit of everyone.
“I’m just here to help as your member when you need me for infrastructure, health, education and transportation.”
Minister Tkatchenko said the Gereka road upgrade is a significant project aimed at improving access and mobility for over 15,000 residents.
He added that NCDC is undertaking a complete reconstruction, rehabilitation and resealing of the road segment connecting Gereka to the Reuben Taureka Highway.
The upgrade is vital for the daily movement of residents and will strengthen links between surrounding communities.
The project is expected to enhance the overall connectivity and quality of life for the residents of Gereka and the surrounding areas
Meanwhile. Minister Tkatchenko said the electorate will be assisting the reserve police and security personnel in Gereka with some allowances as token of appreciation for working hard to keep Gereka community free from law and order issues.
“This will make them feel they are recognized and are doing their job for the benefit of the community:
“When it comes to Gereka policing at the sub-police station, all I hear good stories and good communication and community participation.”
