VOTE WITH PURPOSE

By MICHELLE AUAMOROMORO

PRIME Minister James Marape called on the citizens of the country not to sell their votes for a plate of food but to vote purposefully.

“Construct your government at the polling stations.

“You have that power in your hands now.

“Read deep into the candidate; look into the party the candidate is aligned to and into the policies if the candidate is independent.

“Vote purposely because whoever you vote will construct the government.

“Vote for whoever you want to be the prime minister.

Marape also extended his gratitude to the citizens of the country for a peaceful week of nomination that ended on Thursday last week.

“The conduct of our people nationwide was satisfactory.

“The people had behaved and expressed their freewill in nomination and support to the candidate of their choice who had nominated.”

Marape called on the people to take this same attitude into the campaign and voting period.

Marape also said that they will make sure the citizens freely exercise their rights to vote for their leaders come the voting period.

“We will try our absolute best to ensure the police, CIS and the defense are resourced and the electoral commission is given all the support that they need to ensure our citizens exercise their rights to vote for the leaders of their choice come the voting period in July,” he said.
