A tour agent has urged travelers to purchase proper airline tickets that worth their money.

The PNG Journey Tour and Travel Services (PNGJTTS) is calling unauthorized ticketing agents around the country not to use the Air Niugini or other airlines brand to resell their tickets.

PNGJTTS Managing Director, Cedric Kulumbua expressed his concern when asked about how the sales of Air Niuigini tickets from the unauthorized agents are affecting the genuine ticketing service providers.

This follows continuous reports that some of the heavily discounted tickets from Air Niugini are being resold to the public in the last two months.

Mr Kulumbua explained opportunists are now making use of the privileges and purchasing more tickets from the Air Niugini discounted price and reselling them for much lower price. This stops the customers from going to the genuine agents.

Air Niugini Corporate communication department has reliably informed Sunday Bulletin recently that the warning messages have gone out to the public and the unauthorized agents and customers are aware of the message.

It said as the results of the awareness, Air Niugini customers are not buying the tickets because they are well aware of the penalty of losing their money when airline rejects their tickets.

The airline has warned customers suspected of purchasing such tickets will have their bookings and tickets cancelled without notice and will be denied boarding.

It said they will lose the money they have paid to the person originally making the booking and they are at risk for legal actions.

Air Niugini also warns that there are certain groups and pages on social media (Facebook) that are using the company brand to re-sell tickets, namely ‘Air Niugini Special offers’ and ‘Air Niugini Ticket Sales’.

“We advise that these pages and groups are not Air Niugini or linked to Air Niugini.”
