THE Bulolo District Procurement Committee (BDPC) was sworn-in at the National Procurement Commission Office.

The oath was signed yesterday,  August 19 by BDPC, consisting of five members which are Joe O’Brien Paru – the District Administrator/CEO and Chairman, Christopher Sumac- Direct Finance Manager, Joseph Bariamu – Justice, Law and Order representative, Wilson Thompson – community representative, Madeline Iani – women’s representative.

The signing and swearing in was done in the presence of Commissioner of Oaths Brendan Lai, witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Commerce & Industry and Member for Bulolo Sam Basil, the CEO and Chairman of National Procurement Commission, Mr. Simon Bole and Mr. Kenneth Thompson and other officers in the NPC Office.

BDPC was one of the District Procurement Committee that started very late but was the fastest district to be sworn-in.

“So far there are about 75 districts in Papua New Guinea already sworn-in, since the Procurement Act was passed in Parliament in 2018, and are all ready to carry out procurement duties,” Mr. Bole said.

After the signing of the Oaths, Mr. Bole read out and explained to the Committee, 17 procurement steps they had to follow when responding to a tender bid when it is being advertised on the newspaper.

Mr. Bole told the committee that the tender bids will only be published on the two daily newspapers, Post-Courier and The National, they should not respond to anything that is published elsewhere.

Bulolo MP Sam Basil, thanked NPC CEO for making the swearing-in of the BDPC possible and told the committee to uphold the procedures, to be honest and loyal and to serve the people’s interest at all times.
