In a historic first for PNG, Digicel PNG has successfully activated its network service on a Vodafone PNG tower under the recent tower and infrastructure sharing agreement entered into between the two telecommunication operators.
Located in Minj, Angalimp-South Wahgi District, Jiwaka Province, the tower marks the beginning of a process to grow the number of co-located network sites. A second location, a Digicel PNG tower hosting Vodafone PNG services, is soon be finalised in Baiyer River LLG, Western Highlands Province.
The activation represents a significant step towards accelerating network expansion and demonstrates how the shared use of existing tower infrastructure can improve service availability and deliver greater connectivity and choice to communities across the country.
It reflects Digicel PNG’s ongoing commitment to advancing Papua New Guinea’s digital development by improving access to reliable connectivity and enabling greater participation in education, business, social development and community life.
