By MIRIAM MALAWA

THE Department of Community Development and Religion Secretary Jerry Ubase says cultivating strategic collaborations with provincial governments, district development authorities and activating local wards to spearhead development are significant endeavours.

He made the remarks during the launching of the department’s comprehensive five-year corporate plan and logo themed “Going Rural”.

“Through this collaboration, we aim to promote district growth centres and advocate the establish-ment of district community development centres, serving as hubs for programme delivery,” Ubase said.

“Integrated community development embraces a sectoral approach, ensuring that every district and ward is involved in our development agenda.

“As we often lament the majority of our population residing in rural areas, the department is keen ensure their active participation in our development goals for the next years and beyond.”

Ubase said there was a need for the department to align its efforts with the nation’s Medium-Term Development Plan (MTDP) 4.

“This strategic roadmap signifies a pivotal milestone, guiding our strategies and initiatives to harmo-nise with the overarching goals of MTDP4,” he said.

“As we embark on this transformative expedition, let us be resolute in our dedication to uplift and propel our communities towards prosperity.

“The innovative five-year strategic plan delineates five fundamental objectives that will be the bed-rock of our endeavours. He said the essence of the five-year strategic plan transcends mere planning but stands as a testa-ment to the department’s unwavering commitment to redefine it’s identity.

Youth, Religion, and Community Development Minister Jason Peter reaffirmed the government’s unwavering dedication to uplifting rural communities.

In acknowledging the Marape-Rosso Government, he said rural development plays a critical role in a nation’s overall progress.
