HOPE to continue support students

Helping Other People Excell (HOPE) has committed to sponsor academic excellence of Simbu students for a decade.

That commitment was announced by HOPE national director, Dr Wemin Junior at the Grade 12 graduation of Boromil Technical Secondary School in Gumine of Simbu last week.

Dr Wemin Junior is a medical doctor, and currently occupies the rank of a captain with the PNG Defence Force where he is serving. He is the founder of HOPE.

Dr Wemin said HOPE with the intention to promote human resource development has sponsored prizes of dux students in science subjects.

He said starting next year, humanity subjects will be included in the programme.

Dr Wemin said HOPE will continue to cultivate to boost academic excellence in Simbu.

“That is why I am looking forward to work with the new Simbu Provincial Administration under the governorship of Noah Kool to continue the support to academic excellence in primary and secondary schools as well as assistance to tertiary institutions in Simbu in their programs,” Dr Wemin said.

He made the announcement in the presence of Simbu Governor Noah Kool with his Provincial Education Advisor Ms Kutna Bepwick, and Pro Vice Chancellor-Administration, University of Technology, Professor Kaul Gena.

He said HOPE is in Simbu for the past 12 years.

He said so far 46 schools apart from secondary schools in Simbu are beneficiaries of HOPE.

Dr Wemin said he started the organisation by selling his shoes and shirts while in secondary school to sponsor students, and now the organisation is gaining momentum

“We will continue to work with the authority to push for academic excellence in all schools because human resource is the only resource we have. We have the brains to manage the resources other provinces have,” he said
