NEWLY commissioned Inspector Moore Koivi was among the 54 senior cadet officers commissioned to the rank of inspector at the Bomana Centre of Excellence and was named overall dux of Cadet Intake 1 of 2023.

Inspector Koivi dedicated the achievement to his late father, who also served as an inspector with the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary(RPNGC).

“Being awarded the overall dux means a lot to me. Coming here, I wasn’t expecting the award, but I tried my best and worked hard, and it paid off at the end of the day,” Inspector Koivi said.

He said that the three year training program for the cadet officer was very challenging.

“Its not designed for anybody to come and apply but you have to be strong physically and mentally stay throughout it. It’s always a challenging program,” Inspector Koivi said.

Inspector Koivi extended his heartfelt appreciation to his wife and his family for their support through out the training.

He was being posted to Public Safety Alotau, Milne Bay and has expressed that as command

and control is currently lacking in the country, he would like go out there and play his part and keeping up the peace and good order.

Inspector Koivi said that one main lesson he learned through out his three years training is the art of being patient.

“Not everything requires immediate action, you’ve got to think things through properly prior to making decisions. In the rank that we hold now, what we say or do may affect not only the image of the constabulary but us personally as well,” he said.

Inspector Koivi hails from Kikori District, Gulf Province and prior to joining the Cadet Officer Training, he was a serving member within the RPNGC, holding the rank of Detective Constable and attached to the Transnational Crime Unit at Police Headquarters.

He has completed eight years of service with the RPNGC before joining the cadet officer training.

Inspector Koivi said that coming from a lower rank in the constabulary, he was motived to join the cadet officer training and upgrade his rank in the constabulary.
