The Boroko ISUZU T20 smash women’s matches have been rescheduled to a later date due to wet weather conditions in Port Moresby.

Due to the ongoing wet weather in Port Moresby, the 2026 Boroko Isuzu T20 smash tournament for women has been rescheduled to after post Easter weekend while the focus is set for the men’s teams to complete their matches this week.

This update was provided by the tournament director Rarua Dikana yesterday informing of the necessary steps taken to pause the women’s matches.

“We have cancelled matches due to the bad weather. It is quite frustrating because it has stopped our games from continuing but we are adamant that we will finish the tournament on a high note,” Dikana said.

The Boroko Isuzu T20 match kicked off on Friday last week with first men’s competition between Black Bass and cassowaries where Cassowaries recorded their first win.

The second match was between the Mudmen and the Mariners where Mariners won the game. Second round was played on Saturday where Cassowaries man played the Black Bass Man’s team and the Cassowaries registered the second win of the tournament. That puts them in the top place for the competition ladder. Fourth game was between Mudmen and the Mariners where Mariners got their first win.

It had been an unfortunate week for the Boroko Isuzu T20 smash where since Sunday up until this week, the weather has not been too good. That has forced the tournament director to cancel the women’s games on Sunday, Monday and also the Men’s third round on Tuesday was cancelled due to bad weather.

“The matches have been rescheduled to today which is Wednesday 25th of March 2026 to which was supposed to be a rest day. We have rescheduled the women’s first round matches from Sunday to today,” he said.

The rescheduled match that was supposed to be played today would not go as planned due to the bad weather condition.

Dikana stated that the heavy rains had made it difficult to play even though some sun shine today could not dry off the water from the field to allow some good quality cricket game to go on.

“Today makes us called off again due to wet conditions of the ground. It’s too wet to play any games,” he said.

Dikana after having consultation with high performance manager for the national team and head coach of PNG Barramundis Tim McCaskill, including grounds Manager-Mr. Vani Morea, the coaches, umpires and other relevant individuals, they have collectively come to the decision to cancel the women’s game today.

Since the tournament has not been played in past three days, it was agreed that the women’s competition be moved to after post Easter weekend.

“So unfortunately the girls won’t be playing any more matches this weekend and we will focus on completing the men’s rounds on Friday and the finals on Sunday as scheduled,” Dikana said.

Meanwhile, the men’s teams will play the reminder of the round on Friday while third and fourth rounds on Saturday and finals on Sunday.

The men’s teams that would play their last games on Friday are; Cassowaries versus Mudmen and Black Bass Versus Marinas.

After that Dikana said the table will decide where the teams sit to start the play offs. So far Cassowaries with two wins who are set to finish at the top two while Marinas and Black Bass will decide the other final spot.

“But unfortunately we will have to go with the weather station which is beyond our control but, we are managing it as we go along and try to make the best decision possible for the tournament,” he said.
