A Civil and Identity Registry rollout providing National Identification (NID) cards and birth certificates to residents of the Moresby South Electorate is now underway.
According to a statement provided by the rollout organisers, the program began on Monday, September 21, 2026, and is being conducted across communities from 6 Mile through to Kone.
The initiative is focused on improving access to essential civil registration and identification services, particularly for residents who may otherwise face difficulties accessing government services.
The statement said the rollout includes the issuance of NID cards and birth certificates for children under 20 years of age, covering eligible records from 2015 to 2020 within the Moresby South Electorate.
The program is supported by Moresby South MP Hon. Justin Tkatchenko and facilitated through the Office of the Moresby South District Administrator, Aisop Mol, in coordination with the PNG Civil and Identity Registry Office and its rollout team.
Residents who have registered or are eligible to receive their documents are being encouraged to visit the designated collection points established throughout the electorate.
The designated collection points are:
- Sabama Police Post – serving residents in and around Kaugere, Kogeva, Joycebay, Pari, Kilakila, Mahuru and Sabama.
- Koki Transit Market House – serving residents in and around Taurama, Vadavada Kesi, Vabukori, Gabutu, parts of Ward 3B, all of Ward 2 and surrounding communities.
- 6 Mile, Saraga Market – serving residents in the 6 Mile area, Kipo and Dogura.
- Gereka Police Post – serving residents in Derekone, Gereka and Kautere.
The statement said the rollout forms part of ongoing efforts to bring government services closer to communities and improve access to official identity and civil registration documents.
Residents have been advised to check with the rollout teams at the designated locations for information about their NID cards and birth certificates, including collection arrangements and any additional requirements.
